Australia’s National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) indicated Friday that BP Developments Australia Pty Ltd. (BP) reduced the number of exploration wells it intends to drill in the Great Australian Bight off the coast of Southern Australia in its second environment plan submission for the project.

BP would now drill 2 of the 4 wells that it originally proposed in the first Great Australian Bight Exploration Drilling Program environment plan.

“BP has notified NOPSEMA that they will remove these two wells from the scope of the first environment plan prior to resubmission of that plan,” NOPSEMA said in the press release.
