Eni announces that a new oil and gas discovery has been made within the PL128/128D licenses in the Norwegian Sea.

Eni S.p.A. announced Tuesday that a new oil and gas discovery has been made within the PL128/128D licenses in the Norwegian Sea.

The discovery was made through well 6608/10-17S, which encountered 91 feet of oil and gas with good reservoir properties in the Cretaceous sandstones of the Cape Vulture prospect. A preliminary estimate of the size of the discovery ranges between 70 and 200 million barrels of oil in place, with a further additional potential to be evaluated.

The well will be permanently plugged and abandoned after an extensive data collection and sampling.

Statoil is operator of the well with a 63.95 percent interest. Petoro controls 24.55 percent and Eni controls 11.5 percent.
