Siccar Point Energy E&P Limited confirmed Monday that it has entered into a contract extension with North Atlantic Drilling Ltd, for the West Hercules semi‐submersible, to drill the Lyon well immediately after the Cambo appraisal well in 2018.
The Lyon well is located in license P.1854, 150 km north of the Shetland Islands. If Lyon is successful it would be large enough to form a new gas-hub development similar to the Total operated Laggan-Tormore fields, according to a statement on Siccar Point Energy’s website.
“We are delighted to be extending our relationship with North Atlantic Drilling which will allow our company, along with our new partner Ineos, to accelerate the drilling of the high impact West of Shetland Lyon exploration well into 2018,” Siccar Point Energy’s CEO Jonathan Roger said in a company statement.
Siccar Point also revealed Monday that a previously announced Lyon exploration well farm‐out deal with Ineos UK SNS Limited has now completed.
