The Petroleum Safety Authority of Norway has given Statoil consent to drill exploration well 6507/3-12 in the Norwegian Sea, in a prospect named Mim.
Water depth at the site is 1,250 feet. Drilling is scheduled to begin in early January 2017 and will last 27 days. A possible sidetrack from the well will take a further 18 days. The well will be drilled by the Deepsea Bergen (semisub) drilling facility.
Statoil is the operator for production license 159B in block 6507/3 in the Norwegian Sea, west of Sandnessjøen.
