Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSAN) announced Tuesday that it has given Equinor its consent for exploration drilling in block 7132/2 in the Barents Sea.
The consent covers the drilling of exploration well 7132/2-1 in production license 857, which aims to investigate a prospect named ‘Gjøkåsen’.
Drilling is scheduled to begin in early August 2018 and is estimated to last 28.5 days, according to PSAN. Water depth at the site is 961 feet.
Well 7132/2-1 will be drilled using the West Hercules semi-submersible drilling facility, which is operated by North Atlantic Drilling.
